Tree 106. Descendants of Nicholas MUCHAMORE
(Stokenham 168x)

This subtree is probably linked to Tree 05, the only tree where the forename Nicholas occurs. It is possible that Sampson's christening record gave the incorrect mother's name and that he was actually the son of Nicholas [Tree 05]. (A similar error was apparently made for another of Nicholas's children.) In that case, Nicholas here would be the same person as Nicholas [Tree 05]. However, there would also have to be some explanation as to why Sampson was not baptised in Stokenham (unlike all the rest of Nicholas's children) and why he was baptised a mere 6 mo after one of those children.

John and his descendants previously constituted Tree 207.

The witness to John's second marriage was probably Elizabeth Bennett GEDYE, sister of John's second wife, who had married John GEDYE in 1806.

In relation to average earnings, John's estate would have been equivalent to about 500,000 today.

The clerk who recorded the 1845 marriage appears to have written "St Ives” in error for St Ive (near Liskeard).

It is not known why Grace was referred to as a widow: her husband died a month after the probate. In relation to average earnings, Grace's estate would have been equivalent to about 1,200,000 today.
